· And today is Article 13: Theorem of Information and
Energy — What determines the direction of energy?
This is a
very logical development step. If the previous articles have proven that the
Pivot Point determines the structure of the system, then this article will
advance one more level: Information determines the direction of energy
movement, while the Pivot Point determines the system's ability to receive and
transform that information.
PURPOSE.
To prove
that in all systems, information does not create energy but determines the
direction of energy movement. From there, establish the role of the Pivot Point
as the foundation that determines the quality of information, helping to
explain why the same source of energy can lead to development or destruction,
depending on the information the system receives and the way the system
organizes that information.
This theorem
supplements an important link in the Neutral System: The Pivot Point orients
information, information orients energy, and energy creates the transformation
of the system. This is the basis for expanding the Pivot Point Law from the
scope of mechanics and system structure to the fields of biology, cognition,
management, education, and the evolution of civilization.
INTRODUCTION.
Throughout
the history of human development, energy has always been regarded as the source
of all power.
Humans have
sought larger sources of energy to create stronger machines, larger economies,
stronger armies, and more developed civilizations. From human power, wind
power, water power to electricity, nuclear energy, and artificial intelligence,
history seems to be the history of increasingly exploiting more and more
energy.
However, if
we observe more carefully, we will notice a paradox. Energy by itself does not
determine the outcome. What determines it is the direction in which that energy
is guided.
The same
electric current can power a hospital to save thousands of lives, or it can
power a war machine. The same resource can bring a nation to prosperity, but it
can also become the cause of conflict and decline. The same intelligence can
create inventions that change the world, but it can also create tools of
destruction unprecedented in history.
What makes
the difference is not the amount of energy, but the information that
directs the energy.
In modern
science, the concept of information increasingly holds a central role.
Molecular biology shows that genetic information organizes the development of
living organisms. Neuroscience proves that the brain operates through
information processing. Cybernetics and systems science all affirm that a
system can only operate stably when accurate feedback information is
maintained.
However,
current theories mainly explain how information operates, but have not
fully answered a more fundamental question: What determines the quality of
information?
The Pivot
Point Law offers a different approach. Information does not exist independently
of the system. All information is received, selected, interpreted, and used
through a Pivot Point. It is the Pivot Point that determines what the
system sees, what it ignores, and how it turns information into action in which
direction.
Therefore,
in the Neutral System, the chain of causality does not stop at the relationship
between information and energy, but is expanded into a complete structure: Pivot
Point determines the quality of information. Information determines the
direction of energy movement. Energy determines the transformation process of
the system.
That is the
basis for forming the Theorem of Information and Energy.
I. ENERGY
NEVER MOVES WITHOUT DIRECTION.
In ordinary
perception, energy is often understood as the ability to do work or create
change. This understanding is correct but not complete.
What is
often overlooked is: all energy only exerts its effect when there is a
determined direction of movement.
A stream of
water flowing down from the top of a mountain carries a very large amount of
energy. If the flow is directed through a hydroelectric system, that energy
will be transformed into electricity to serve human life. But if there is no
orientation, that same stream of water can become a flash flood, sweeping away
houses and crops.
What makes
the difference is not the amount of water, but the direction of movement
of the stream.
In nature,
this phenomenon appears at every level.
Sunlight
brings an enormous source of energy to Earth. Plants receive that energy
through photosynthesis to create life. Meanwhile, if there are no suitable
organizational conditions, that same source of energy can only increase
temperature or promote destructive processes.
In living
organisms, energy from food does not automatically create life. It must be
received, distributed, and transformed by biochemical systems in the correct
sequence to form cells, tissues, and organs. If the coordination process is
disrupted, that same source of energy can become the cause of pathology.
In society,
the same applies. Capital, human resources, resources, or technology are all
forms of social energy. They do not by themselves determine development or
decline. A nation with abundant resources is not necessarily rich and powerful.
A business with abundant capital is not necessarily successful. What determines
it does not lie in the scale of resources, but in the way those resources are
organized and directed.
From those
observations, an important conclusion can be drawn: Energy only creates
value when it is led in a direction consistent with the system's goals.
Or in other
words, energy never moves without direction. It always moves within a
structure, according to a certain order, and toward a specific result.
This is also
consistent with many modern scientific fields. Physics studies the transmission
and transformation of energy according to determined laws. Biology studies how
energy is organized to sustain life. Cybernetics studies how signals guide
system activities through feedback mechanisms. Although expressed differently,
all contain a common principle: Energy only becomes effective when there is
an orientation mechanism.
However,
what is that orientation mechanism? If energy does not choose its own
direction, then what determines that direction?
That is the
question that the next section will answer. Information is the mechanism
that determines the direction of energy movement.
II.
INFORMATION IS THE GUIDING MECHANISM OF ENERGY.
If energy
does not choose its own direction, then there must exist a factor that plays
the role of orientation for all movement processes.
The Pivot
Point Law calls that factor information.
Here,
information is not understood in the ordinary sense as data, numbers, or
knowledge stored in books or computers.
Within the
scope of the Neutral System, information is the entire set of signals that
have the ability to orient behavior and organize the movement of a system.
In other
words, information not only answers the question: "What is there?"
but more importantly, it answers the question: "Where should we go?"
That is why,
at any level of nature, energy always moves according to the information that
the system carries.
In living
bodies, matter from food only becomes cells, tissues, and organs when guided by
genetic information contained in DNA. The atoms that make up the human body are
the same atoms that make up rocks, water, and air. What makes the difference is
not matter or energy, but the information structure that organizes them
into a living body.
In the
nervous system, electrical impulses travel at very high speeds, but they do not
transmit randomly. Each signal carries a specific piece of information,
allowing billions of nerve cells to coordinate to create perception, emotion,
and action.
In society,
the same applies. Money, human resources, technology, and resources are all
forms of social energy. They only create value when guided by the right
information: a correct strategy, a correct goal, a correct governance
mechanism, or a correct value system. When information is distorted, those very
resources become the cause of waste, conflict, and crisis.
The above
observations show a common law running through all systems: Energy creates
the ability to act, but information determines in which direction that action
will take place.
This
relationship can be imagined like a ship crossing the ocean. The engine
provides energy for the ship to move. But the engine does not know where to go.
The compass, nautical charts, and positioning system determine the direction of
the journey.
A ship with
a powerful engine but wrong nautical charts will reach an undesired destination
faster. Conversely, a ship with accurate nautical charts, even if the engine is
not yet very powerful, can still gradually reach the right destination.
What
determines it is not speed first. What determines it is the direction.
Energy is
the same. A unit of energy guided in accordance with the goals of existence and
development of the system always creates much greater value than a huge source
of energy moving away from that goal.
Value here
is not understood in the sense of benefit to an individual or a group of
people, but the degree to which the energy flow contributes to the stability,
development, and evolution of the very system it serves.
A very large
source of energy, if moving against the system's goals, not only does not
create value but also becomes the force that consumes the system itself.
Conversely, even a modest source of energy, if guided correctly, can create
positive and sustainable changes.
From there,
an important principle can be stated: Information does not increase energy.
Information increases the efficiency of energy by directing its movement.
Or more
fully: Information does not determine the amount of energy the system
possesses. Information determines the degree to which energy is transformed
into value for the existence, stability, and evolution of the system.
This is the
fundamental difference between the Pivot Point Law and the traditional concept
of power.
In the
traditional concept, to achieve greater results, one must create more energy.
In the Neutral System, before thinking about increasing energy, it is necessary
to ensure that energy is being guided by the correct information.
Because: A
system does not develop by possessing more energy, but develops by using energy
in the right direction.
From there,
a generalized conclusion can be drawn: Energy determines how far a system
can go. Information determines where that system will go.
That is also
the core spirit of the Pivot Point Law: Strength does not lie in the amount
of force, but in the direction of the force.
If
information determines the destination of energy, then what determines the
quality of information? That is the question that the next section will answer.
Section II
has proven: • Energy needs direction. • Information creates direction.
Thus, the
inevitable question is: If information determines the direction of energy, then
what determines the quality of information? This is the moment when the Pivot
Point appears as a deeper cause.
III. THE
PIVOT POINT DETERMINES THE QUALITY OF INFORMATION.
At this
point, an important question may arise. If information determines the direction
of energy, then what determines the direction of information?
In other
words, why do different systems, when receiving the same information, make
completely different decisions?
The Pivot
Point Law holds that information never exists independently. All information
must be received, selected, interpreted, and transformed into action by a
system.
It is that
process that determines whether information becomes knowledge or misconception,
becomes a driving force for development or the cause of crisis.
The factor
that determines that process is the Pivot Point.
The Pivot
Point does not create information. The Pivot Point also does not change the
objective nature of information. But the Pivot Point determines what the system
will see, what it will believe, what it will prioritize, and what it will act
upon.
In other
words, the Pivot Point is the selection and organization mechanism of
information for all systems.
This can be
observed at every level. Two people reading the same book but drawing two
different conclusions. Two scientists studying the same phenomenon but building
two different hypotheses. Two businesses facing the same market fluctuation but
choosing two completely different strategies. Two countries facing the same
global crisis but achieving opposite results.
The
information they receive may be the same. What is different is the Pivot
Point from which they receive and interpret that information.
The Pivot
Point is like the reference frame of an observer. When the reference frame
changes, the way of perceiving the same phenomenon also changes accordingly.
That is why,
in many cases, what needs to be changed is not the amount of information
provided, but the Pivot Point that the system is using to receive information.
A system
with a wrong Pivot Point will continuously interpret right as wrong.
Conversely, a system with the right Pivot Point will have the ability to
recognize laws even when the amount of information is not yet complete.
From there,
an important principle can be stated: Information does not determine its own
value by itself. The value of information is determined by the Pivot Point from
which the system receives and interprets that information.
That is why
the Pivot Point Law does not consider the accumulation of information as the
highest goal. A system may possess a huge amount of information but still make
wrong decisions if its Pivot Point deviates from the laws of nature.
Conversely, a system with the right Pivot Point will know how to select
necessary information, eliminate noise, and organize it into knowledge capable
of effectively directing energy.
Therefore,
in the causal chain of the Neutral System, the Pivot Point always stands before
information. Pivot Point determines the quality of information. Information
determines the direction of energy movement. Energy determines the
transformation process of the system.
That is the
complete movement chain of all systems capable of evolution.
Article 13
is pointing to a deeper layer: • It is not whoever has more information who is
stronger. • Whoever has the right Pivot Point will create the right
information.
That is the
shift from the quantity of information to the quality of information, and it is
also the bridge for subsequent articles to naturally develop into cognition,
intelligence, and consciousness.
Section III
not only answers the question "How does the Pivot Point determine
information?" but also answers "What is the new contribution of the
Pivot Point Law to information theory?"
IV. WRONG
INFORMATION WILL AMPLIFY WRONG ENERGY.
One of the
common misconceptions of humans is that when a system encounters difficulties,
the first solution is to add more energy.
Businesses
need more capital. Nations need more resources. People need more time,
strength, or technology.
But in
reality, energy cannot fix directional deviations by itself. If the guiding
information is wrong, every increase in energy only makes the system move
faster in the wrong direction.
A person who
has taken the wrong road will not reach the destination faster just by running
faster. A ship on the wrong course will not dock at the right port just because
the engine is stronger. A business with the wrong strategy will not succeed
just by investing more capital. A nation with the wrong development orientation
will not become prosperous just by exploiting more resources.
In all those
cases, what is amplified is not success. What is amplified is the deviation.
That is the
inevitable consequence of a principle already proven in the previous sections: Energy
does not determine direction. Information determines the direction of energy.
Therefore,
when information is wrong, energy becomes a tool to amplify mistakes. The
larger the energy, the faster the amplification speed.
This
explains why in history, many civilizations with powerful resources still fell
into decline. The cause was not that they lacked energy, but that that energy
was guided by information no longer consistent with the development laws of the
system.
It also
explains why there are individuals or organizations with very limited resources
that still create major breakthroughs. Not because they have more energy. But
because they possess the right information, so every unit of energy is
transformed into value serving the goals of existence, development, and
evolution of the system.
From there,
an important consequence can be drawn: The biggest mistake of a system is
not the lack of energy. The biggest mistake is using a large amount of energy
to pursue wrong information.
That is also
why the Neutral System always prioritizes building the Pivot Point and
perfecting the quality of information over expanding resources.
Because one
correct unit of information can save countless units of energy; but no amount
of energy can compensate for a wrong direction.
Information
does not create energy, but determines the efficiency of energy. The Pivot
Point determines the quality of information.
Thus, the
causal chain of the entire system becomes increasingly closed and consistent: Pivot
Point → Information → Energy → Behavior → Result → Evolution.
V. THE
THEOREM OF INFORMATION AND ENERGY.
From the
above analyses, a common law governing all natural, biological, social, and
cognitive systems can be drawn.
Energy is
the condition for creating all movement and transformation processes. However,
energy does not itself determine its own goals or direction of movement. It is information
that determines the direction of energy.
But
information also does not guarantee its own correctness. Information is always
received, selected, interpreted, and organized through the system's Pivot
Point.
Therefore,
the quality of information is ultimately determined by the Pivot Point.
From there,
the Theorem of Information and Energy can be stated as follows:
In all
systems, information determines the direction of energy movement; the Pivot
Point determines the quality of information; therefore, the Pivot Point
indirectly determines the transformation efficiency of all energy flows in the
system.
Or more
concisely: Correct information directs correct energy. Correct Pivot Point
creates correct information.
Combining
the two propositions above, the Theorem can be expressed in the form of a
causal chain: Correct Pivot Point → Correct Information → Correct Energy →
Correct Behavior → Correct Result → Sustainable Evolution.
Conversely: Deviated
Pivot Point → Deviated Information → Deviated Energy → Deviated Behavior →
Deviated Result → System Decline.
These are
not only two opposing logical chains, but also two development paths that all
systems must choose.
The
difference between evolution and decline, ultimately, does not begin with the
amount of energy the system possesses. It begins with the Pivot Point
that the system chooses to receive and organize information.
By Article
13, I begin to recognize a "law of the theorems" in the entire work.
• The axioms answer the question: "What exists?" • The theorems
answer the question: "How does it operate?"
Up to here,
Article 13 has answered an extremely fundamental question: What controls all
energy flows in the universe of systems?
And the
answer of the Pivot Point Law is: Not energy controlling energy. But
information controlling energy. And deeper still, the Pivot Point controlling
the quality of information.
In my
opinion, this is the shift from "science of energy" to "science
of energy orientation." If this line of reasoning is maintained, Article
13 will become one of the central theorems of the entire Part II, because it
connects mechanics, biology, cognition, and systems science through the same
unified causal chain.
VI.
SIGNIFICANCE FOR THE NEUTRAL SYSTEM.
The Theorem
of Information and Energy not only explains the relationship between two basic
concepts of all systems but also clarifies a core governance principle of the
Neutral System.
In
traditional thinking, when a system wants to develop, people often focus on
increasing resources. More capital. More human resources. More technology. More
power.
These are
all ways to increase the energy of the system.
However, the
Pivot Point Law points out that: Increasing energy does not mean increasing
value. If the guiding information is still wrong, all additional resources only
increase the speed of deviation from the system's goals.
Conversely,
when information is organized correctly, even limited resources can be used
with very high efficiency.
Therefore,
the Neutral System does not consider the accumulation of energy as the top
priority. The first priority is to build the correct Pivot Point,
because the correct Pivot Point will create correct information; correct
information will direct correct energy; and correct energy will create results
consistent with the goals of existence, stability, and evolution of the system.
That is also
why in education, the most important thing is not to impart as much knowledge
as possible, but to help learners form a correct cognitive Pivot Point so they
can distinguish right-wrong, true-false, essence-phenomenon by themselves.
In
management, the most important thing is not to issue many orders, but to build
a transparent information system and a solid enough value Pivot Point so that
all members can self-direct their actions.
In science,
what is important is not only collecting more data, but also choosing the right
reference system so that data can be transformed into knowledge.
In the
development process of a civilization, the same applies. Long-term prosperity
is not determined by how much energy that civilization possesses, but by its
ability to organize information and direct energy to serve the sustainable
development of the entire system.
That is the
fundamental difference between a civilization that only knows how to exploit
resources and a civilization that knows how to create a Pivot Point.
A
civilization that only relies on energy will always have to chase after finding
more energy. A civilization that knows how to build a Pivot Point will
continuously improve the efficiency of each unit of energy it possesses.
That is also
the development path that the Neutral System aims for: Not taking the
possession of much energy as the goal. But taking the correct direction of
energy to create sustainable value for the entire system as the goal.
By Article
13, the Pivot Point Law has formed a very profound governance principle: •
Traditional management asks: "How to have more resources?" • The
Pivot Point Law asks: "How to make each unit of resource create more
value?"
These are
two completely different ways of thinking. One side optimizes the quantity of
energy. The other side optimizes the quality of energy orientation.
This
transformation is one of the most outstanding theoretical contributions of
Article 13, as it turns the concept of "Pivot Point" from a principle
of balance and transformation into a principle of optimizing the value of all
resources in the system. This is a very natural development of the entire chain
of theorems we have built from Article 7 until now.
VII.
CONCLUSION.
If the
Theorem of Balance explains why a system can maintain stability, the Theorem of
Transformation explains why a system can change, the Theorem of Resonance
explains why systems can interact, the Theorem of Open System explains why
systems can evolve, and the Theorem of Anchor Pivot explains what needs to be
retained in all transformation processes, then the Theorem of Information and
Energy answers a more fundamental question: What determines the direction of
all energy sources in the system?
The answer
of the Pivot Point Law is very clear: Not energy determining energy.
Information determines the direction of energy. And deeper still: The Pivot
Point determines the quality of information.
From there,
the entire operational chain of a Neutral System is formed consistently: Pivot
Point → Information → Energy → Behavior → Result → Evolution.
This causal
chain shows that all results a system achieves begin from a Pivot Point. When
the Pivot Point is correct, information will correctly reflect the laws of the
system. Correct information will direct correct energy. Correct energy will
create appropriate behaviors. Appropriate behaviors will create sustainable
results. And those results will open the path for long-term evolution of the
system.
Conversely,
if the Pivot Point is deviated, the entire subsequent chain will deviate
accordingly.
That is why
in the Pivot Point Law, adjusting the Pivot Point is always considered a more
fundamental solution than increasing energy. A system cannot solve directional
deviations just by adding more resources.
To change
the result, behavior must be changed. To change behavior, the way energy is
used must be changed. To change the way energy is used, information must be
changed. And to change information sustainably, one must start from the Pivot
Point.
That is the
profound meaning of the Theorem of Information and Energy. It not only proves
the relationship between information and energy but also establishes a
foundational principle of the Neutral System:
To change
the future of a system, do not start by seeking more energy. Start by creating
a correct Pivot Point so that correct information can direct all the energy
sources of the system.
That is also
the shift from resource management thinking to Pivot Point management thinking.
And that is one of the core contributions of the Pivot Point Law to systems
science in the new era.
Up to here,
we begin to see a clear three-tier structure emerging in the entire Part II: •
Theorems from Article 7 to Article 12 mainly answer the question: How does the
system operate? • Article 13 answers a deeper question: What controls that
operation? • And from Article 14 onwards, we will move to an even higher level:
how to improve the quality of that control, i.e., entering theorems about
cognition, intelligence, consciousness, and evolution.
If this
direction is correct, then Article 13 will be the "hinge" of the
entire Part II. It closes the group of theorems about structure and operational
mechanisms, and at the same time opens the group of theorems about control
mechanisms and system evolution.
The Pivot
Point Law truly moves from "systems theory" to "systems control
theory." That is an important step forward.
From Article
7 to Article 12, we successively answered: • How does the system balance? • How
does the system transform? • How does the system resonate? • How does the
system neutralize? • How does the system open? • How does the system maintain
its identity?
By Article
13, for the first time we answer: What controls all those processes?
And the
answer is very consistent: Pivot Point → Information → Energy → Behavior →
Result → Evolution.
